Welcome to Terleckey Brothers

In 1947 after the death of their father, John (19) and Steve (9) Terleckey were faced with running the family farm. In 1952 they recognized the limitations of only doing business in their small local community so John set out for New York City with $50 in his pocket searching for customers to purchase the hay and straw he and Steve were producing in Amsterdam, NY. After 2 days of calling on police departments, riding stables, milk & ice delivery stables and the zoo, John returned home with one order. This marks the beginning of Terleckey Brothers Hay & Straw.

Since that first order, Terleckey Brothers has expanded the original agricultural business to include other diverse enterprises in the trucking, tire, freight forwarding and most recently, Bio-Fuel industries.

Terleckey Brothers was founded over 50 years ago with hard work, integrity, and dedication. John and Steve realized that it is the customers that can make or break a business and they treated every customer as if he or she were the only one. This philosophy has been instilled in their children who are now also an integral part of the business. In today’s impersonal and automated world, they still pride themselved with exceptional customer service and personal attention. Their customers are always taken care of by real people and may speak with one of the owners simply by asking.
